juicyprunes
I just wanted to prompt some discussions about this: Surgical residencies are pretty long already and it seems that lot of places want/expect trainees to do a lot of additional training (Fellowship +/- MSc., PhD) just to get a job (larger centres of course, on some specialties are worse than others). However, I've heard that there's even a trend towards hospitals in smaller cities (e.g. 50,000 - 150,000) requiring fellowship to practice. How do people wanting to do surgery (general or subspecialty) feel about this? Is it a deterrant?
