Funny you should mention that... I am a columbia med student and the admissions office emails us which schools interviewees come from throughout the week. I've only seen three Canadian schools show up on three separate days: U of T, McGill and Carleton. First interview was on Sept 27th. We usually have 3-4 interview days/week.

 

Well, Harvard hasn't started file review yet. Some pm101ers have heard from Yale... but yeah, nothing from Columbia thus far!

Yup, very relaxed interviews! There are two, open-file, one faculty and one student (the second is likely after lunch so don't go into a food coma ). I recommend reading the SDN interview feedback for more info!

Thanks bud! Complete August 12, just double checked my e-mail history.

 

Just a note for those who will be using this as a resource in the future: I added my first (and best) MCAT because I was made aware that some US schools do indeed use best and not most recent. Two points may not seem like a big difference but a 31 versus 33 means being below or above the national matriculant average and so is important to note if stats are being compared to mine.

 

That is all. Amazed beyond belief still. I know it is crazy competitive post-interview (as with any medical school) but I will give NYU my best shot, stats notwithstanding. New York baby here I come .

 

Final note: I sent an update letter to NYU over the weekend with a research/sports heavy focus. They never acknowledged its receipt but it may have played a role.

Still waiting to hear back from Yale and GWU (interviewed there a little while ago)

 

So for all of you unsuccessful canadians like me, who think you are prisoners of poor GPA, try the US, they don't call it the land of the free for nutt'n (at least as far as med school admissions are concerned hehe)
