To current med students...housing location/experiece???

I was hoping some of the med students could tell me where they are currently living and whether their experiences were good or bad and why.

 

I've looked at quite a few places and haven't really found something that I am overly happy with.

 

Riverside appartments seem to have a lot of break-ins and car theft, same with Southvale/St Laurent appartments. Alta vista appartments were small and also had a lot of noise complaints, assaults, and thefts. Pixley, Kilborn and Cantebury area seemed to have the least reports. I liked the Pixley area, but there isn't anything available right now.

Can anyone in these buildings comment on this?

 

I want to live near med students also. Is anyone living in the appartments on Halifax or is this too far from the med school that none of the med students live there?????

 

I really want to sign a lease by the end of this long weekend or next weekend at the very latest as I am leaving for vacation. Please help!

Based on Ottawa's GPA calc. I have a 3.77 (my second year wasn't so hot and my 3rd year doesn't count because of co-op).

 

Should I even bother applying? Is there GPA cutoff usually above 3.8 each year? Any applicants/matriculants who were successfull to some degree in the admissions process with a similar GPA?

I was just wondering what most people do to cover tuition and living expenses during medical school? Besides an OSAP loan, are there any other scholarships/burseries etc...that I should be applying for now? Do most people borrow the rest of the money from banks?
