About the Apple upgrades being very expensive, I have actually read an article stating that if you buy the bare bones for a Mac computer, then buy separate hardware upgrades, it's much cheaper since Apple jacks the price of upgrades up by quite a bit. The same might be true of the Macbooks. However I never took the time to verify this claim 'cause I'm not really interesting in buying Macs anyways.
