Meeting up with friends in Toronto. Anyone know any safe and cheap places to stay?

Me and 3 or 4 of my friends are planning to meet up in toronto after exams and just chill out for a couple of days. (We all moved to different places after highschool)

 

Anybody have any suggestions for cheap and safe places for us to stay?

 

(Also, is bus transport convenient for us to get around or would a car/cab be recommended?)

Depends. Downtown is usually expensive. Find a motel in North York or Yorkdale and use TTC.

I heard downtown is actually cheap when it's not around any holidays or occassions. North york is a good idea.

 

I was wondering if there's anything like a hostel or something. I heard they're super cheap.

My info may be super outdated... but I now UofT used to have their rez rooms available to rent out per night during the summer (because they empty out). Right downtown, and super cheap. Voila!

That is funny. I lived in that area at one time. From 1985 to 1988. Then I moved to Stratford, Ontario.

 

 

This is a good hotel. Quiet, clean and not too expensive.
