blood donation opinion?

Blood donation is a great thing, which got me thinking about specialized blood donors. I was wondering would you want someone in particular's blood to run through your body?

 

For example would you want like a specific someone's blood running through you, given they are the same type or a universal donor?

think about celebrities donating blood and having it auctioned off, how much money could they raise?

I don't think I would want to think too hard about whose blood was in me. Although given the kinds of things people buy on EBay I can see where the money might be in this one.

Blood donation is anonymous with rare exceptions and it is best this way.

I don't really see a point. Even if you wanted someone's blood in you the cells will just be recycled in 3-4 months anyway.

I'd choose a 25 year old RC cloistered vegetarian nun, who's pure as the driven snow, has never done IV drugs, nor been tattoed, nor left her home town. Her parents and grandparents also lived their lives in the same town.

 

RC cloistered nun pure as driven snow = hep B, C, AIDs, hep C, HTLV, CMV, syphilis

never tattooed - hep C / G

no travel abroad - malaria, chagas, hep A / E, babesia, leishmaniasis, etc.

parents never travelled - chagas, hep B

vegetarian - vCJD

25 years old - minimal chance of occult malignancy

 

Not many Hollywood celebrities would meet donor deferral criteria, I'll wager.
