medat
Due to the high cost of living, combined with university expenses many students now choose to live at home while pursuing a postsecondary education. From my own experience, I know what it's like trying to get through university, while working part time, with parents who don't pay for everything AND trying to pay rent. I'm wondering, how many of you choose to leave home and how many choose to live at home while in university?

FacelessMage
I'm living at home with parents. That way I'm close to campus (only 15 minutes away) and I can save up to move out after I graduate. When I started undergrad, I was also sick with a chronic illness, so it was better then to live at home.
Erk
Lived away from parents for eleven years, except for brief periods flanking my departure from and return to Canada. Those were not fun times.
psychoswim
I moved away from home to Montreal (so 2 hours away) with 1 year of cegep left to train here. So I've been on my own for 11 years now. 6 of those years I lived with a BF who split the costs with me. My parents helped me out in the beginning because I was moving to train. ellorie
I've lived with roommates, with my girlfriend, currently just with my cat. I haven't lived with my parents since high school and, God willing, I never will again. I just need to have my own life. Plus my parents live far from where I go to school. My family is scattered all over North America and Europe.
Jochi1543
I never had the option of living with my parents. If I had, I would've had half the debt I have now, that's for sure. Then again, even if I had the opportunity, I doubt I'd continue on living with them at this point (I'm 26).
