med88
Was reading in the anesthesia forum about locums, and I was wondering whether such locums exist for those in a general surgery practise? Any insight?
jock2doc
I'm pretty sure there are locums for most specialities. Try googling it. https://www.google.ca/search?q=general+surgery+locums+ontario&oq=general+surgery+lo&aqs=chrome.4.57j61l2j0l3.8236j0&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-
med88
Yah thanks a lot buddy. Totally never heard of google before, really appreciate the insight, seriously helped a bunch. I had googled it; I was looking for more anecdotal information from users here, similar to what was posted on the anesthesia forum.
jock2doc
Do I sense a hint a sarcasm? Sorry if my response offended you; I did not intend for it to. The question was fairly vague and all I was trying to do was help. My mistake.
ubcredfox
If you want to work in ontario, the ontario locum program info is publicly searchable, and you can register if you want. they may have some gen surg posts available. locumsontario.ca But the best way, as always, is to pull on local connections. Word of mouth etc. My impression is that as corporate, MBA run, medicine spreads and the fallacious drive for centralization of medical services continues, there will be less peripheral OR's to work in. So it may be hard to get reasonable locums. I met an orthopod a while back who was actually interviewing with other orthopods for locum positions.
