chicagoschool
I'm sure there are existing threads but the search function isn't cooperating. Can someone link me?

herewego
Aren't all (or almost all) of the IMG spots being abolished?
herewego
I mentioned this in another thread, but would applying to residencies as a Canadian with a Green Card be extremely beneficial since it would eliminate the appropriate Visa aspect? advair250
People always claim that IMG spots are being phased out, this is not true. While there are projections that AMG/CMG students will increase over the years, as of right now nothing has changed in terms of IMGs matching. The amount matched this year was not much different than last.
leviathan
I mentioned this in another thread, but would applying to residencies as a Canadian with a Green Card be extremely beneficial since it would eliminate the appropriate Visa aspect? That would be a huge help. You still might have trouble matching into anything competitive, unless you do lots of rotations in the US and get to know the right people to write you letters etc.
leviathan
And yes, IMG positions are being passively phased out because of the increase in AMGs. I'm sure you know this, but to clarify for others, there are no IMG positions in the US. You can apply for US residency spots regardless of where you went to medical school, as long as the school is listed on WHO/FAIMER. The main exception is if they don't sponsor visas, but in that case you can't apply regardless of where you went to med school, even if it was in the US or Canada.
