do you mean, that the doctor moved down to the states or something? i thought you couldn't own a private practice in canada? or did or did you mean that the opths were working for private industries/companies?

The latter of the two.. In one case, doing both (hospital procedures and private sector "clinic" work); in another case, purely private sector..

 

Nice people, living large.. :hat

 

Scariest part about it, is that it's by no stretch "out of their means"..

I believe Steak is referring to private laser eye clinics (ie for corrective surgery.) There may be other services Opthalmologists can provide not covered by OHIP. Additionally, cosmetic procedures (augmentation surgeries, botox injections, hair transplants) are privately run practices and/or alternatively many physicians go into medico-legal work.
