It's different. There are people who can and do get accepted to medical school and not to dental school, and people who can and do get accepted to dental school and not to medical school.

A friend of mine got accepted to two med schools *AND* two dental schools this year. She had her Masters complete, solid DAT and MCAT scores and was super brilliant and well rounded.

It's a very competitive process for both. One is not necessarily better than the other, they're just different with different goals, different body systems studied and different salary opportunities.

Take your pick; happy picking!

i think one has to be very careful about making either career choice because they're quite different. Here's an interesting article discussing the financial aspects of medicine.

www.caribbeanmedicine.com/article9.htm

With dentistry, the financial reward is what you make of it. If you work hard and have a little business acumen, the sky's the limit.

But either way, you will not starve as a physician or dentist. Just make sure you're going into the profession for the right reason, not as a 'back up' or just because of the $$, or you'll end up burning out and being miserable. Choose something you desire from the heart, because you'll be doing it the rest of your life. Don't become a bitter dentist/physician (like the one in the article...who obviously neglected the most important thing about being a physician- to CARE for other people)
