PurpleS
I've been extremely interested in research during my undergrad, and am planning on pursuing some sort of clinical scientist role in the future. I have been considering the lab med or medical microbiology residency program, and would like to know a bit more about the job market, life style, and how competitive these programs are. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
shikimate
med micro is more of a western Canada thing, in the east it's PhD micros doing the lab management. UBC has good med micro electives. It's some lab management, infection control, antibiotic advisory and some communication with clinicians regarding unusual cases.
