Is The Oop 127 Equivalent To 11 Or 10 Vr?

Recommended Posts

so what would that be equivalent to? 11 or 10? Have they lowered the cut-off

It really depends who you ask... lots of folks are saying you can't compare the old and new MCAT... others say if you add 17 to the "old" scores you get the "new" scores... but the percentiles don't work out on that. Looking at the old MCAT they didn't have a perfect normal distribution, while the new MCAT has a much more normal curve. Based on the current percentiles, they have lowered the cut off (now have to be 81st percentile instead of 95th percentile).

This is also the first year U of C is seeing the new MCAT though, so there is always the chance that they will either up the cut off again next year. Dr. Walker was saying at the info nights that while the folks at AAMC are good at writing standardized tests, until they get through an application cycle or two at the U of C they won't know what the new MCAT looks like for their applicants.

So, the Coles notes? Based on the percentiles as they stand right now it looks like the OOP cut-off has been lowered at the U of C :-)
