Chances Of Admission At Ubc Or U Of A

I am hoping to enter the 2016 MOT Program at U of A or UBC next year. I am an Alberta resident.

 

I have a lot of extra-curricular activities, as I am taking a year off (after completing my degree) to work full time as a therapy assistant, I volunteered with a recreational therapy organization over the summer, and I am currently volunteering with a brain injury rehabilitation organization. I am confident that my reference letters will be strong and that my volunteer experience is above what is required.

 

However, my GPA is ~3.3 for U of A and ~79% for UBC. I had mononucleosis in my third year, which was detrimental to my grades in one of my semesters - but I have explained this in my personal statements.

 

Does anyone have any insight on my chances for admission to UBC or to U of A? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

I believe your chances are better with Uof A than UBC. However, u can apply to both. Keep in mind that UBC only takes 50 OT students while UofA takes twice that.. Also, if you are willing to relocate, Queens would be a good option as well. All the best.

Chances are higher with U of A. UBC reviews all aspects of applications and offers interview only if you meet the GPA cut off, which was 3.8 last year I think. You might have a shot at Queen's, if you are willing to move.
