Final Year Medical Student Bursary Program Stipend

I was just reading through this document and on the last page it says :

 

 

MD Students also receive a stipend of $750.00 per month through the Final Year Medical Student Bursary Fund program for total payment of $9000 during the final twelve months of study in the MD Program. The program is funded by the Government of Ontario and operated by the Ontario Medical Association.

 

Is this automatic?? I've never heard about this, but it's definitely not a negligible amount!

it is OMA driven - every medical student in Ontario gets it automatically.(

 

(heheheh which means you get it but in a sense will be paying for it later I suppose as our dues are bumped up to cover it )

Seems from what I'm hearing that CaRMS costs are going to eat up most or all of it.

No you do not

sure - in fact that is the point. The reason the bursary exists is to in large part manage those costs. It is quite a bit of money - and in most cases will cover the clothing/hotel/transportation required to complete a CARMS tour
