How to get a job as a research associate/ research assistant/ study coordinator?

I am in the process of writing my exams for getting my DDS in Canada (international dentist). I have extensive experience in research, have published two papers of my own however all my research experience is from India. How do I get employment here in Toronto as a research associate or research assistant or study coordinator? I'm planning to do the certificate course in by McMaster University to familiarize my self with the Canadian healthcare system.
1. What else should I be doing to make my self competitive for employment?
2. Are there any recruiter or headhunters?
3. Volunteer programs?
4. Which hospitals or institutes are likely to hire newbies? (which are the least competitive or open to training)
