Ben's Friends
Ben's Friends, a charity which builds, operates and maintains safe and supportive web communities for people whose lives have been touched by a rare disorder, has a limited number of volunteer Patient Advocacy internships available. Our interns see first hand the burden of a rare disorder, and the impact that a rare disorder has on patients and their families. Our communities do not provide medical support, but rather peer-to-peer social and emotional support. Internships are done online, so time commitments are flexible, and the work can be done from wherever you have a computer and internet access. Interns learn how to interact with patients, as well as developing more advanced communications skills. Our interns have an excellent record of acceptance into medical school. Please check out our webpage, which has instructions and forms for applying for a Ben's Friends internship.
