Applying to US residencies without away electives

Recommended Posts

Was planning to write the USMLE and apply broadly to Canadian and US neuro programs. I'm now wondering if I should still put myself through that hassle if I won't be able to do electives in the US due to covid. Pending a good step 1 score, will programs consider me without having worked with me? Can anyone comment on difficulty of matching to the US without electives?

Exactly - and that means it will be considered at least until 2023.

step 1 is p/f now so crushing step 2 is more high yield

For incoming students that's the way to go if they want to match to the US for sure.  The OP seems to be currently in medical school and close to selecting electives.
