merci
I keep hearing murmuring of UBC splitting the VFMP and making a VMP and FMP out in the valley. Wondering if there are any updates or news on that out there? I am based in Chilliwack and as a non-trad with other local commitments, I would be over the moon if I there was a more local program I could apply to. coffeetea and JackSprat
frenchpress
I had heard from some faculty members back in early 2020 (pre-covid) that a Fraser campus was being seriously investigated. But have not heard any more than rumblings about it in the last year, not since COVID and the bizarre NDP announcement that SFU would be getting a medical school (based out of surrey) by 2023. Doesn't mean it's not happening, and certainly doesn't mean the SFU thing is actually happening instead. The split makes a lot more sense than trying to add students to the region as its currently already quite saturated with UBC students, and adding more would be difficult. But I would be surprised to see much movement on either possibility before the pandemic is over, people just don't have the cycles. wanderforhelp and merci
Redpill
My impression was the plan was to add more seats, i.e. another site like IMP, SMP, NMP. This was supposed to tie in to a significant expansion of healthcare in the Fraser region, and Surrey Memorial in particular. But I haven't heard anything more on it since 2019 merci
