do I need to change my degree to have a better shot at MD?

Recommended Posts

I'm second year in biochemistry major at UBC. I chose my specialization this summer with honours in CAPS as my first choice and major in biochem as second. I'm hoping to apply for med school. I know that med school does not require any specific major to apply but I want to give it my best shot. I'm not sure if biochem major is good enough. Should I try switching to CAPS honours or biochem honours? Or maybe making it a double major or adding a minor?

Its about your GPA which has nothing whatsoever to do with your major. You should select your program according to your interests and where you feel motivated to work hard for the best GPA of which you are capable. Its really that simple and all other alleged considerations are irrelevant, except for building competencies for a Plan B career.
