babadaddy
Hi everyone, I have been leaning 90/10 towards anesthesiology vs family medicine throughout medical school and unfortunately despite 8 anesthesiology interviews, I matched family medicine which was my back up. This was a bit of a shock as I thought I did well in most of my interviews, but I guess you can never truly tell. I did enjoy my family medicine rotation but I felt like anesthesiology was really my calling. But, I still intend on giving family medicine a solid try but if I absolutely hate it, then I plan on transferring. But before I get to that point, I understand that doing a +1 in anesthesia is an option too, but I had no exposure to it so far and was just wondering if anyone went through a similar situation as me who can give their feedback! From what I have found so far, you are not allowed to work with the higher risk patient populations, and you are limited in areas where you can work (which is not a huge issue for me because I want to live in and practice in the suburbs or rural locations). Thanks in advance!
