jDDS08
I have hopes of attending the University of Melbourne for its DDS program (I am a Canadian citizen). From my current understanding, Australian-trained dentists cannot practice in the States but are able to practice in Canada. I have a few questions regarding this. 1: Why aren't Australian-trained dentists eligible to work in the States, if they are able to work in Canada? Is this because the states have more robust DDS programs/requirements to practice? 2: How can an Australian-trained dentist become licensed in the States? Any help would be greatly appreciated! dentistrydmd
It is because there is a reciprocal agreement between Canada and Australia whereas there isn’t between the USA and Australia. You would be considered an international dentist and would follow the same pathway as any other foreign trained group. jDDS08
