Western EM unfilled spots

I was looking at the match results this year and I was surprised to see that Western's Emergency Medicine program had two unfilled spots. What gives? I thought we need all the EM docs we can get.

Was wondering this too. Perhaps the algorithm didn’t work well for them. People they rank must have rank other programs higher

no clue if this is true but i've heard through the grapevine that they just didnt offer interviews to very strong candidates who matched to EM elsewhere. seems perhaps there was a flaw in their ranking methods pre or post interview, maybe both

From what I have heard, they just didn't interview the right people. They rejected many Western students pre-interview that ended up matching EM elsewhere. I think that they only interviewed 30 people or so and statistically it's very possible that they didn't rank some and everyone else wanted other programs and matched there instead!
