Guest flying kumquat
So we're doing our week of derm here at Queen's. That seems like a pretty short period of time to buy a textbook for, but I was wondering if anyone has found a derm text/atlas useful further on in their training (or if I'd be better off spending that $80 elsewhere). Specifically, I'm looking at Fitzpatrick's Clinical Dermatology vs. Habif's Skin Disease. Thanks!
Guest summervirus
I bought Fitzpatrick's Color Atlas & Synopsis of Clinical Dermatology (4th Ed.) and found it pretty useful. It's fairly thick and has more detail than a medical student will need. The photos are clear and the text is organized and concise for easy reading. However, I think that a general medicine textbook supplemented with the internet for colored photos is enough for most medical students. In my four years of medical school, I haven't used it very much but anticipate that I will be using it more during residency now. I hope this helps.
