I believe that is the case (your last sentence) as long as you have your stuff up to date with NYU. If you have multiple, you have to tell individual schools that you are going to withdraw, otherwise with a single, the school is anticipating that you are attending.

I will be pulling out of dartmouth too to attend a canadian school.The US cycle was definately suprising,I applied to a bunch of schools,didnt get a single interview from any of the low tier schools.Never even expected to interview at Dartmouth,let alone get in,so for people applying in the future dont be afraid to apply to the middle and high tier schools.sometimes those are your best bet,since a lot of the low tier US ones just seems to beleive your not a good fit for them.

if it helps,my gpa was 3.9cgpa and 3.91sgpa and MCAT is 35Q and I was complete quite late in the cycle since I rewrote my MCAT in late aug.

Really surprised to get phone calls from the dean's of both Columbia and Northwestern about 15 minutes apart from each other, and literally 4 hours after I dropped off my deposit to UofT. I'm going to wait for the Financial Aid Packages before making any rash decisions (Columbia is my dream school and I fell in love with Northwestern and Chicago when I was there).

Congrats ChicoMaki... we might be classmates at P&S together. What are your thoughts on the U of T vs Columbia decision irrespective of financial constraints?

to me, they are roughly the same. The curriculum (until recently) was very similar, but I am a fan of the 1.5/2.5 split. In terms of living, NYC is a very big city and i do have some family within 20-30 min transit in NJ and NY.

 

I feel that the opportunities at Columbia are slightly greater (transplant pager among others) vs Toronto to get involved with the hospitals.

 

I do like the smaller class at Columbia as well. In terms of reputation, Columbia is, at least IMO, greater than UT. If cost was equal, I would go to Columbia in a heart-beat.

Well, it was probably the hardest decision of I've had to make so far, but I had to turn-down offers to Columbia and Northwestern due to financial reasons. I just can't justify the $ difference between UT and these two schools (>6 figures).
