hp18
Is there any advantage for bilingual applicants? If so what is the criteria to dtermine bilingualism? I have had french during high school & in first year of university. However I am not fluent in spoken French.
Satsuma
If you apply to the anglophone stream and write that you are bilingual, then it is fair game for them to conduct part of your interview in French. This will allow them to assess your language skills. If you write you are bilingual but aren`t, then there isn`t much of an advantage since it may come out in the interview. There are plenty of people admitted to Ottawa who don`t speak French. IMHO being bilingual would be seen as a positive but isn`t going to be the thing that gets you in. So if you feel comfortable with part of your interview potentially being in French, then go for it. And if not, don`t stress, I don`t think it will make or break you. Good Luck
AMmd
I think it is easier to get in the french stream for in province ppl (gpa wise). But like Satsuma said, you have to interview in french, so if you dont speak french very well. then you are out of luck.
Kuantum
I think just generally being conversant in French will be of benefit - especially in the Ottawa region and in many other parts of Canada.

degoo_
There is no specific criteria for it at other med schools, but I'm sure its looked at favourably when assessing the 'whole' applicant.
