EK Mini MCATs -how does the scoring work?

For anyone who's used it, I don't get the scoring since there isn't a conversion table. What score should I be aiming for?

For the verbal, usually 50%, i.e. 7.5/15 is like a 5 or a 6, but then it's out of 15, which makes me suspect that if I get 9/15 = 9 on the 15 scale?

But that doesn't make sense, since 9/15 is so bad, how can it be 9?

Please help? Thanks!

There is a table at the start of the answers that gives you the conversions, which are not linear. I am not at home, so I don't have the page number in front of me. However, if you flip to the page where they list all of the correct responses (prior to the explanations), you will see the table.

  • 5 weeks later...

A little late, but here's the scale for the mini-MCATs at the end of each chapter of the EK books...

23 = 15

22 = 14

21 = 13

19-20 = 12

18 = 11

16-17 = 10

15 = 9

13-14 = 8

12 = 7

10-11 = 6

9 = 5

7-8 = 4

Hope that helps.

Thanks Elaine! But I think we have different books...Because the PS and BS have 16 questions and verbal only has 15 questions.

The scale I provided works for the mini-MCATs at the end of each chapter. The 16-Mini MCAT book didn't contain a scale. However, I used my raw score out of 16, made it out of 23, and then used the scales provided for the longer chapter tests.

Hope that helps.
