Ottawa Applicant

Hi,

I heard that there is a different cut off for students from Ottawa. Is that true? What does it mean if you are from Ottawa? - born there, lived there for x number of years, went to high school there? What was the cut off for individuals from Ottawa for this year?

Each year, a minimum weighted grade point average (wgpa) is set for the current application pool. The required minimum wgpa varies according to the following list of categories:

-Applicants who apply to the Consortium National de formation en santé (CNFS): residents from outside the provinces of Ontario and Québec applying to the French program

-Applicants who are sponsored by the Canadian Forces (CF)

-Aboriginals

-Residents from Ontario and the Outaouais region applying to the French program

-Residents from under-serviced areas (as determined by the Faculty)

-Residents from the region (Ottawa-Outaouais)

-Residents from the province of Ontario

-Residents from other provinces

This order of preference reflects the mission statement of the Faculty of Medicine. Applicants may be asked to provide evidence of geographical status. The place of residence is the permanent address listed on the application form confirmed by two years of residence at that address.

So, it's two years of residence, with proofs, driver's license, tax assessments, etc.

The cut-off was 3.65 (3.65 using the weighted formulae)this year for residents for Ottawa. It just gives an advantage to make the first round cut in terms of academic assessment, after that its a level playing field with everyone else to determine who gets an interview, which is determined by your DABS.
