froston
Does anyone know of a similar forum to this but for people gunning for veterinary school? I really like the popularity of this forum and it's a lot of help, but my interests have evolved so to speak and I will probably not take a run at med school... actually who knows its still relatively early for me to decide lol but anyway, anybody know of such a site? bj89
Np! It's mostly US based... Theres only one vet school in Ontario though, which is insane!
froston
I know it is nuts.. only about 100 ppl get into Guelph each year, and it's virtually impossible to go out of province within Canada. I haven't looked much at schools outside of Canada but they probably have strict physics/orgo requirements which wouldn't work for me. Maybe by the time I apply some university will clue in and open another DVM program in Ontario!

future_doc
I believe there is one in Guelph ON, another in P.E.I. and one in Quebec, a French speaking one from University of Montreal. Given so few schools, I would imagine the competition for acceptance is more severe than for med school.

It is very competitive to get in to of course. Maybe this forum will evolve to the closest thing we have to a pre-vet forum for Canada(?)
future_doc
I would hope so - once the word spreads about this forum having spread its wings! As the name of the forum remains, it will take time for the word to spread. pre-dental students know where to come already. When I was considering this career choice, U of Montreal required some considerable experience working with animals/vet. This has changed I understand. Réda
If you go in the U of Montreal part of this forum, you'll find some interesting stuff about Med Vet. It's in french but you can post in english and they'll answer you in english. A lot of med vet students try to help people who want to get in (interviews, letters, ..). And yep, i think getting into med vet is more competitive than Med. 1 school in the province! WT... ?!?! But it's a bit normal though; There's not a big need here in Canada. It's another thing in France or US.
Nymoue
For your information, there is only 5 Vet Med School in Canada - University of Prince Edward Island (P.E.I) - Université de Montréal (Québec) - University of Guelph (Ontario) - University of Saskatchewan (Saskatchewan) - University of Calgary (Alberta) (since 2008)

Daisha Moore
I've gone through the above discussion and thought that this is the place where I can get the solution of my problem. I want to go for a vet tech course. But I'm really confused about how to start. Many of my friends suggested many colleges but they are too expensive. While searching on net I found some accredited universities offering online veterinary courses. The best part is that they are having provisions for scholarship program. It seems that these are really helpful and would reduce the cost of studies. I want to share that site with you all.http://veterinariantechnician.org/financial-aid-and-scholarships-for-vet-techs/ This site has all the info about the colleges and their scholarship programs. But then my confusion is whether distance education is really worthy? Are these scholarships really helpful in reducing the financial burden? I would like to thanks in advance for any suggestion.
