Musical Guilty Pleasures

So, the Justin Bieber vs. Nickelback thread got me thinking about music, and our musical "guilty pleasures" - stuff that we normally don't listen to, and for some reason or another don't think we "should" like, but we like anyway. Maybe it's stuff that you are embarrassed to admit to your friends that you listen to and like.

I'll start. I'm normally a classic rock kind of gal, mixed with some more modern rock. Give me The Beatles, Billy Joel, The Guess Who, BTO, The Tragically Hip, Kings of Leon, Queen, Aerosmith, etc. You get the idea.

So, my musical "guilty pleasures" are: Madonna, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and ABBA! I have plenty of their stuff on my iPod, along with my classic rock stuff, to listen to when I'm out for a run.

So, what are your musical "guilty pleasures?"

I don't really have any guilty pleasures in the sense of music I shouldn't like but do (except for kesha's tik tok because of hilairous internet videos for it), but I occasionally feel odd belting out broadway musicals as loud as I can in my car. I think it's the same effect.

Odder when it's the musical episode of buffy the vampire slayer.

I normally listen to folky style music: damien rice, iron and wine, ray lamontagne, bright eyes, etc.

However, I do have a couple guilty pleasure artists....

Justin Timberlake ---> such a good singer and such good beats/orchestra stuff going on

Usher ---> it's seven o'clock on the dot i'm in my drop top cruisin' the streets...

Haha, I feel so much better having confessed to these sins of mine!

I get weird looks when I rock out tegan and sara and rammstein, although they're both faves! :)

I like most pop (Britney, Christina, Gaga, Madonna, JT, Eminem) but I don't feel guilty bout those.

Prob the one I wouldn't admit is Creed, lol, although I'm a big fan! I also don't mind the odd Limp Bizkit song, that's admittedly bad...

Most people think of me as like little and innocent and whatever. I do listen to pop music... a lot! Like MJ, Gaga, Madonna, Beyonce. All that fun stuff. And I also love classical music, Sinatra, you get the picture.

But the thing that is my "guilty pleasure" is rap/hip-hop! I lovvvve rap! 2pac, Snoop, Mos Def, Diddy, Notorious B.I.G., Jay-Z, Dr. Dre, Run-DMC, Busta Rhymes, Missy Elliot, Lauryn Hill... People always get shocked when I'm dancing and I know like every word (not just the chorus) of California Love and like just about every famous rap song.

I like pop, rap, hip/hop, electronic, alternative, rock, electro house, indie, soul, trip-hop, etc. and I'll never feel bad for that!

Guilty pleasure: I sometimes have "back in the days" moments. During high school/ Cegep I never missed a Warped tour :o. So listening to Pennywise, Good Riddance, Assorted Jellybeans, etc. just makes me smile cuz they bring back such great memories.

Disney wise, the songs are cute, but I've gone further i.e. actually have Disney inspired tatts :P

As for Limp Bizkit, I'll never be ashamed! They have a song for everything ;). For example:

- Argue with a sig other: listen to Break stuff = feel better

- Try to remember why the hell ur still seeing the dude that is so not intellectually stimulating: listen to Nookie = feel better

Tool/anything from metal music. I'm not their target demographic, despite being white and male, and it is a guilty pleasure of mine to try and relate to other white male friends of mine who are obsessed with metal.

It only goes so far, because usually they say something extremely stupid. :P
