Interview Invites 2016

Interview: Yes!

GPA: 3.78

Context: Born and raised in rural NWO

ECs: not great, but with a fairly wide range of stuff, including a published paper discussing Thunder Bay Aboriginal health

Traditional

Interview: March 6, Thunder Bay

 

Considering this was the only med school I applied to, really hoping the MMI goes well!

GPA: 3.9
Context: Grew up in Rural Southern Ontario, but currently live in Halifax
ECs: Naval Officer who has served in Africa, the Gulf, and Afghanistan.  Worked with WFP in Somalia and assisted with disaster relief in Mississippi post Katrina
Non-trad?: Non

Undergrad program/university: BA Anthropology and BSc Psychology from Saint Mary's University in Halifax.  
# of previous applications: 1st time

Context: Grew up and still live in a small town on Georgian Bay
ECs: Soccer coach and convenor, volunteer at nursing home and in kindergarden class, taught anatomy in cadaver lab, cashier, sales associate, soccer, downhill skiing, dance, dean's scholarships
Non-trad?: No - one year post undergrad

Undergrad program/university: Human Kinetics University of Guelph =)

Interview: Yes, NOSM
GPA: 3.53, upward trend 
Context: Born and raised in Northern Ontario, 1rst undergrad in Manitoba
ECs: 2 years experience Health Access Centres in Aboriginal communities, 4 years working for health unit (clinic, environment, health promotion), research but no publication through NSERC, health food company founder and inventor, extensive volunteer for community events, sports, high school clubs, extracurriculars (soccer, frisbee, kickball), as well as on executive council at current University in Nova Scotia for 2nd undergrad.

Non-trad?: def non-traditional

Undergrad program/university: Human Nutritional Sciences-University of Manitoba, Public Health-University of Cape Breton
# of previous applications: 2 at NOSM, no wait list either time, interviews both times-no MCAT

Interview Location/Date/Time: Thunder Bay, March 6, 10:00am

 

Excited for the third round (3rd time is a charm right...?)! Hopefully this time admission or at least waitlisted! Good luck to everyone:)!!!

Context: Small town in Northern Ontario for the past 14 years. 
ECs: varied
Non-trad?: Very non-trad - completed undergrad as a mature student and... mom of 4!

Undergrad program/university: 3 year degree. Currently upgrading to a 4th year Honours degree.
# of previous applications: 1 (waitlisted last year, really honoured and excited to get another interview this year)
