Waitlist Ranking

Any reason why med schools don't tell us our ranks?? or atleast a general position??

 

Lots of US schools let their applicants know their standing in the list.

Several reasons actually:

 

1. It is constantly changing as people get offered spots, drop off the waitlist to go to other schools, etc. You could call everyday and it might be different.

 

2. In light of #1, the administrative staff do not have the time to talk to each waitlister every day to give them a precise update.

 

3. It really doesn't matter what number you are... you never know how much the list will move. Knowing that you are number 54 doesn't give you any kind of guarantees.
