  1. Hard to say... every school calculates your GPA differently (ex. Western only looks at best 2 years, Ottawa U uses a weighted formula, etc.). Also hard to say without knowing your MCAT score! Calculate what your GPA would be for each school and get your MCAT scores back and you'll have a better idea of your chances. Don't lose hope though! Your ECs are pretty good. If you really want to get into med school, with hard work, patience, and willingness to go alternate routes if necessary (ex. maybe deciding to do a second undergrad), you will get in eventually
  2. ^This! I did prep101 twice and had the opportunity to be one of the students who assessed people who had applied to be prep101 instructors. They literally have to audition in front of a handful of students by giving a lecture. We then very thoroughly graded each of them on several aspects of their ability to teach. I auditioned CARS and chemistry instructors - several people applied for only two open positions so only the best got chosen. The instructor I helped choose to teach CARS ended up being a big part of the reason why my CARS score jumped from 126 to 129. (for anyone who is considering doing prep101 in Kingston, I'm talking about Liam!) Anyway, I am also in no way affiliated with prep101, I just had a very good experience and would highly recommend them
  3. I agree! I did prep101 + used EK books last summer and found them very helpful, especially for CARS and for the structure it gave me. Physics and chemistry are my week points so I had to supplement with Khan Academy videos but otherwise I found the prep101 classes and EK books to be very good (though I do have a science background).
  4. Thank you! I've never had a LOC or anything like this before - how often do you end up needing to meet/consult with the advisor during the school year? As in, how big a thing is the convenience of having them in the city in which you study? Obviously it is most convenient right now to meet with someone in Ottawa but I want to keep the long-term in mind as well!
  5. When getting a LOC, is it best to get it set up with an advisor in the city in which you'll be attending medical school or does it not matter much? I live in Ottawa and I like my Scotiabank branch here but will be attending medical school at Western.
  6. Result: Accepted to London campus Timestamp: 12:13 pm EST 2YGPA: 3.81 MCAT: 513 (126/129/130/128) Interview: Felt fairly good afterwards but after lots of over analyzing I wasn't so sure it went well. Turns out I should've stuck with my initial gut feelings towards it! Year: Last year of MSc Geography: IP, not SWOMEN Just goes to show you that's it's not ALL about the stats. I assumed I was going into the interview near the bottom of the list due to MCAT scores that just made the cutoffs and not having a 3.9+ GPA (my cGPA is 3.69 so I just felt lucky to even get one interview at all after complete rejections last cycle and rejections everywhere else this cycle). I felt okay after my interview so I was expecting to get somewhere on the wait list, especially after seeing such high stats posted in the interview thread. Clearly, the interview is incredibly important so to anyone who will be applying in the future or didn't quite make it this year, do not feel discouraged if your stats aren't perfect. It is possible to get into medical school with a sub-3.9 GPA and decent MCAT scores. All you need is one chance
  7. Time Stamp: 11:15 AM Invite: yes IP/OOP: IP SWOMEN: No 2YGPA: 3.81 MCAT: 126/129/130 (CPFBS/CARS/BBFLS) I am in shock, as a non-trad with better experience than stats I honestly didn't think I was good enough.
