Do I have a better chance getting accepted if I choose the MD/PhD route?

Hello. I have a Msc and 12 first-author publications so I'm wondering will I have a better chance of getting accepted to med school if I decide to pursue the MD/phD option instead of just MD?

Usually acceptances are consecutive -  basically you are getting accepted into two things at the same time (and can end up getting into one or the other as well at some places). Of course having a Msc with 12 first author publications just in general is good to have when applying to medical school.

The answer is maybe, but really only consider this if you actually want to do a phd. Otherwise as soon as you're in you're going to be miserable as all your classmates move an without you and most schools now won't let you drop the phd and continue on with the MD without reapplying.

although ha someone with a Msc and 12 first author publications probably likes research :)
