I just got accepted to Western off of the waitlist this morning (June 9) and will be accepting the offer, as it was my only interview! Non-SWOMEN Applied to: UWO, Queen's, UoT, McMaster, Ottawa Interviewed: UWO Waitlisted then accepted: UWO Undergrad OMSAS GPA - lifesci at Queen's: 3.53 (1st: 3.69, 2nd: 2.77... 3rd: 3.77, 4th: 3.82) Currently: M.Sc. Biochemistry, Queen's Grad GPA: 3.93 (not looked at by Western). MCAT: P10 V10 B11 Q; 31Q Research M.Sc. - TA for a 4th year Honour's Project, Conference abstracts and presentations, co-first author on submitted paper, 1st author on another in prep Lots of extracurriculars - hospital volunteering, intramural floor hockey, self directed learning projects, various leadership positions, moved and travelled extensively throughout my life. frust Posted June 11, 2008 Report Share Posted June 11, 2008 Non-SWOMEN, 4th year undergrad GPA: 3.93 MCAT: V:12, PS:13, BS:12, WS:S (37S) ECs: Lots of competitive sports (no varsity though), 1 research publication, 2 conference presentations, ton of volunteer work and university clubs, and various academic and non-academic awards Applied to: Western, U of T, Ottawa, Queens, Mac Interviewed: Western, U of T, Queens, Mac, waitlisted to all 4. Got rejected from U of T waitlist. Felt like my Western interview went really well, so I was pretty disappointed with Western in particular. EDIT: I was accepted to Western of the waitlist on june 24. Last year, I had a 3.97, a 10, 10, 9, R MCAT (I rewrote it this past summer), applied to Queens, Mac, U of T, Ottawa and only got a Mac interview which I was rejected from. SWOMEN applicant (but was told this makes no different for this program) PS: 12 BS: 11 VR: 10 WS: P Undergrad GPA of last 2 years: 3.78 GPA of master's degree: 3.95 10 publications (1 first author). ECs: Worked in a neuropharmacology lab for 4 years, odd volunteer jobs here and there. TAed nursing pharmacology and nursing microbiology as well during my MS. The doctor on the panel seemed really really bored. Definitely stumbled on a few questions. The part at the end of my interview, however, went very well. ECs Longterm commitments for several causes. Exec on numerous clubs. No research. Other Results Rejected at Queen's. Bad waitlist at Ottawa. Good waitlist at NOSM. Accepting Western. I was just very honest and myself. I took my time to think things through, and did not rush to give answers too quickly. Honestly, I had thought that the doctor interviewing me was quite bored, but I guess he liked me afterall! Campus Choice: London ECs: (I don't think Western looks at them) I was accepted at Western.
