Cleanse
Just wondering if I should even bother applying to Dal MCAT 34 (but 8 on verbal, is this enough to disqualify me?) GPA (OMSAS 4.0 scale) -first year 3.58 -second year 3.89 -third year 3.79 -fourth year and fifth year (did Co-op) 3.95 -total 3.81 ECs -good mix of community service, first aid, leadership/mentorship programs No Maritime ties. AIsForApple
From Dal's admissions website: Residents of all other Canadian provinces and territories & international students: Current MCAT: Minimum total score of 30. Can have one category score of 9 but total must still meet minimum. The wording is a little vague, but it sounds like the 8 on verbal might disqualify you
uwopremed
Yeah...you are pretty much done with that 8. Rewrite the MCAT.
NotASerialKiller
I have the same question OOP cGPA: 3.91 MCAT: 33 (lowest 10V) ECs: average No maritime ties either... think it's worth it?

Your GPA and MCAT look good, but Dal puts A LOT of emphasis on ECs (especially clinical experience) and the essay. If you're a good writer and don't mind the 1000-word essay or whatever it is, I say go for it. Look in the stickied accepted/rejected/waitlisted thread - people with your stats have gotten in OOP. That being said, it still is 450+ applications for only 7 spots, so don't be too overzealous about it.

It's going to be hard to get an interview with an 8 in verbal, I think you'll find verbal might be the weak point in your application anywhere you apply. Might be worth rewriting. I have the same question OOP cGPA: 3.91 MCAT: 33 (lowest 10V) ECs: average No maritime ties either... think it's worth it? I an OOP who got in with weak Maritime ties. My cGPA was 3.8 and 34 MCAT (10V). So it's definitely possible to get in with your stats. Like fruity_smell said, make sure you have strong essays and a good mix of ECs. This constitutes a big chunk of your application score.
remedy1234
Does anyone know what a realistic GPA & MCAT would be applying as a 3rd year OOP?
