HeHeHe
I was just wondering if anyone knows how the essays are factored into admissions decisions? Are they only used in tie-breaker decisions or do they contribute to the overall score of an applicant? Thank you
coffeebunny
I'm curious about this too; so hopefully someone has some information!
Rehab4Life
It’s likely factored into the overall score of the applicant (after passing the GPA cutoff).
medgirl1991
My friend talked to the admissions person for Western OT and said that its a tie-breaker sort of thing
Miria
Soo... essentially they'll take into account your essays only if your GPA is at the cutoff range? (i.e. median)

(i.e. median) I think that sounds about right. Also keep in mind that Western doesn’t require reference letters, an interview, or a resume so they only evaluate you on GPA and essays. Plus they get 800+ applications for ~64 spots, so I’m sure they filter based on the top however many (let’s say 300) GPAs, read those essays & narrow it down from there. kinestudent23
What is the GPA cutoff around?
MWUQ
Their website says a 3.7+ sGPA is considered competitive so I'm going to guess the cutoff is around 3.
