  1. Depending on the school, but in Ontario they dont overly care about Cgpa. It's really just the Sgpa that schools look for, and it's really only used to find their top # of students, whatever cut off they decide to use for the year. For my incoming year, they cut the Sgpa at 3.77 and only looked at applicants above that
  2. This dude knows what he's talking about. There is a ton of golden information here for anyone wondering about virtual PT.
  3. Volunteering is a bit harder now days but I work as a PT now and my clinic would still take volunteers. Although it may be more challenging, experience is still a major aspect of applications and I'd strongly recommend even reaching out to PT clinics around you and asking if they will allow you to volunteer. For your main question about how important specific physio experience is to just general, I'd say it's very important. My graduating class for PT at Western had no one that I knew of that didn't have a fair amount of specific physio experience. Applications, especially the written part if the schools require, will be used to gain insight into your understanding of the profession and many people believe that you need specific physio relevant experience to know what our profession does.
  4. Basically I`m procrastinating from studying for the national licensing exam by offering my services to answer questions anyone applying, or thinking of applying, to PT school! Feel free to reply here or direct message me about interviews or life in PT school, etc. Anyone from Northern Ontario applying this time around?
  5. Yes they do! Once the deadline passes, they`ll calculate everyone`s sGPA, cGPA and then its available back on ORPAS for you to double check that it`s correct. People have found errors in the past, so please double check your ORPAS calculated GPAs. Good Luck everyone!
  6. On Queen`s website it states "All offers of Admission for the 2017-18 Academic year will be sent via email on May 19, 2017." I do believe that every Ontario school will be sending admission decisions on this date!
  7. Hey PTlyfe, I am happy that you found it useful! I edited my original post and added how to calculate cGPA for ORPAS. I don't quite have one for u of A yet though so hopefully that is all you needed, if not I can try to get one done by the end of the weekend!
  8. Hey everyone, from talking to a couple of other applicants and reading this forum I realized that some people would like to know their GPA before applying (or while waiting to hear back from schools) but do not quite understand how to calculate it. Therefore, I am sharing an excel spreadsheet that I made for others to calculate their GPA (I originally used it to calculate mine but figured why not include instructions and share it). The spreadsheets that I have set up will calculate the sub-GPA for ORPAS and the University of Alberta. To find your subGPA, all you need to do is find your last 20 credits on your transcript and follow the grade conversion charts that I included within the spreadsheet. To find your cGPA, all you need to do is input all of your credits on your transcript and follow the grade conversion charts. You then fill the rows and columns that I have already set-up and excel will calculate the rest for you. I also left instructions with the spreadsheet to follow and filled in a couple of rows/ columns for an example. If I get some feedback I can always edit and re-upload the spreadsheets to better them. I know that a couple of years ago I had no idea how to calculate my GPA and wished I knew how so I hope others will find this helpful. p.s. I could not upload the spreadsheet directly to this forum apparently because I do not have the access with my account but here are the links to the online spreadsheets. Let me know if there are any issues accessing the links.
