medinsecure
Hi everyone! I was wondering if any current/past western MD students could explain their typical schedule with regards to in-person demands? I know this is likely continuously changing because of COVID, but as it stands now, how often do you HAVE to be in person? I am wondering if I would able to continue to live in my home and commute (~1h45 to london or 3hr to windsor..) Thanks!
hbmed
So, when we actually go back to in person at the end of the month, we would have 2-5h+ of in person class per day, 4 days a week. In first year for example, usually you have "large group" sessions Mon/Wed/Thurs/Friday afternoons, up to 3h of clinical skills one morning, and another small group session for ~2h another morning. One day (Tuesday rn) is preserved as an independent learning day. In general, UME strongly suggests students live in the city of their campus, and a 2-3h commute would significantly cut into your time if having to do daily (Throughout COVID, I've had in person class like once a week for the most part, up to a few times per week when fewer public health precautions are in place - some students have definitely commuted during COVID though)
