hobbes4
Hey everyone! So I’m currently doing a rotation (that is not an elective) and I have the feeling that I might get a bad evaluation, I don’t feel that I’m a fit in the team… anyways I’m worried a lot because I’m afraid that this bad rotation might affect my whole CaRMS … is there anyone that had this kind of experience but ended matching in competitive specialties ? Bambi
I too had a bad rotation. It did not affect anything. Not only did I match to a competitive surgical residency, but I also was an interviewee in the specialty where I had a bad rotation. Just move forward. hobbes4 and 1D7
1D7
Unless you're applying to that program specifically, it won't matter. I had a tremendously terrible first rotation in a medicine subspecialty rotation and it had no effect on my match. Just made me a bit anxious. hobbes4
robclem21
We also tend to overanalyze every micro-interaction when we feel like things aren't going well on a team. Likely most of what you are noticing, nobody else even cares about. I'm sure things are going fine, but even if they aren't as others have said, it's not the end of the world. Nobody vibes perfectly with everyone and it probably won't affect you long-term. hobbes4 and Snap

People tend to forget about medical students, unless you do something very outrageous. LOL this is actually so true and didn't realize it until I experienced myself... On the other spectrum of your example I've had staff who wrote me reference letters forgot who I am a few months later when I updated them on match day lol (matched to their program). attempt2 and hobbes4 1
waterofbottle
I tend to forget most of my students. The ones I DON'T forget about are the ones I'm not too fond of-- clear suck ups and annoying gunners (I'm ophtho) hobbes4
hobbes4
Thank you very much everyone for your comments! I feel better about this. It really makes me feel less stressed to know that it's okay to not perform in every rotation even if we want a competitive specialty
