My two cents from my 2009 Carms EM tour:

McGill: Good teaching, very friendly staff, good exposure, great city to live. (-) very run-down hospitals (not all, but many), research program perhaps not as strong as Ottawa or Toronto

Mac: Good exposure, Some GREAT teachers/staff. (-) PD who is not as willing to be flexible re: electives in 4th year, past record of residents switching out of the program

Toronto: Strong program, tied with Ottawa for most R1 Carms spots, has many specialists in all areas of EM, excellent researchers, good exposure, great city. (-) because the program is so large (ie: so many faculty), it's hard to feel part of a family, for example: talking to an R3, her biggest issue with UofT is that she still does shifts with staff she has never met before (and therefore doesn't ever really feel comfortable performing in that clinical situation)
