rupchatt
Hi I took full course load in all years so far. -------------------------year 1 1A (full courseload) 1B (full courseload) co-op -------------------------year 2 2A (full courseload) Co-op 2B (full courseload) ---------------------------year 3 co-op 3A (full courseload) co-op ----------------------year 4 3B (full courseload) Co-op (planning to take this co-op term off and take two labs and orgo - 2 COURSES TOTAL) co-op ------------------------------------------- So I am planning to take 2 courses in my winter co-op term to fullfill prerequisites for ottawa. Would this make me ineligible for wgpa for uoft? if yes, i would not take the courses in that term. I would rather wait until I finish my degree and take it in the summer. Please advise thanks alot
Bambi
That would not be the full course load required by U/T for eligebility to their weighted GPA as I understand it.

rmorelan
so ill still be eligible for wgpa? I would definitely talk to them about doing something like that - I believe Bambi is right - it wouldn't be considered a "real term" for wga purposes. I would want that pretty iron clad though even if it is technically correct (the best kind of correct!) prior to do it

marauder4life
Hey guys, I also have a question regarding wGPA. So I finished my undergrad from Mac in 2014 with a full-time course load in all four years. However, after graduating I took courses as a non-degree student at another university where I took 4 half courses equivalent. I took these courses as a part-time student. Any ideas if UofT will consider me for wGPA? I am kind of freaking out because my application has significantly improved for this year. However, without the wGPA scheme I won't reach the file review stage Thanks for the input everyone
schmitty
so ill still be eligible for wgpa? There is a Q&A on the MD U of T page that specifically mentioned COOPs and other such programs as likely valid reasons for not taking a full course load in a semester/year and still having weighting. It is just not done automatically and thus you need to explain this in your academic explanation essay. Here is the pertinent Q: 8) What if I had a good reason for not taking five courses one year? The Academic Explanations Essay section on the OMSAS application is for candidates to explain why their transcript does not reflect their true abilities or briefly discuss gaps such as participation in a co-op program, foreign exchange, or professional experience year.
