Casper Requirement For Mcmaster

It looks like this is a new requirement for McMaster nursing in 2016. I know that CASPer has been used for a few years now at the medical school but now for nursing too? In my opinion, this really sucks!!!

 

Does anyone have any experience for this test for nursing? Are there other nursing programs that already use CASPer?

It looks like this is the first year they're going to be using CASPer for nursing so no one really knows but I'd imagine it's going to be similar to the test they've made the med applicants write for years now!

I think they previously had an essay or questionnaire portion of the application, so I can understand why they'd switch to CASPer instead. I find it interesting since I'm at Mac for nursing but not the main campus, and we were admitted solely based on grades!

It looks like York University is doing the same thing this cycle for two of their nursing programs.  CASPer will be worth 1/3 of their admissions grade !!!!!!

I actually think its a good thing, purely marks should not determine your admission into a healthcare profession. As someone who wrote CASPer and marked it I do think its a better judge than high school grades, which in itself are incredibly poor determiners of a good nurse.

This is a new world and all need to adjust. Less reliance on grades and more on critical thinking skills isa good thing.

What has everyone been doing to prepare for CASPer? So not looking forward to this test.
