tuscanleather
Wondering if application will be tossed, given I think two years ago the cut-off was 19!
andy_ac1992
I think the cut-off last year was 18 (class of 2020), but I don't remember too well the admissions director gave out our class statistics.
Waves
I think the cutoff might be lower this year since the most recent DAT (and therefore presumably the one most people will be applying with) seemed to have a difficult RC section with not many people achieving very high scores compared to previous years. DentHope2021
The cutoff last year was indeed 18 but it should be the same this year. More so, the ABS will probably factor in.
akumar39
Any chance it would go down below 18 or if the writers this year would be compared to an equal scale as the year before? Scale of Nov 2015 seemed a bit more better than 2016 so I am curious how its looked at. If all they compare is the number between 1-30 only then nvm lol. 1994
Conversely, because of the newly introduced ABS what are the chances they increase the cutoff to reduce the number of full file reviews?
andy_ac1992
Conversely, because of the newly introduced ABS what are the chances they increase the cutoff to reduce the number of full file reviews? Not sure. We had the ABS last year, and it did already go down from 19 to 18. Don't think it will go down any further

Conversely, because of the newly introduced ABS what are the chances they increase the cutoff to reduce the number of full file reviews? Highly doubt that it would go up. They want a sizeable pool of applicants to review for ABS/PS and then select 240 to interview.
DedicatedDent
Although I can't confirm what the admissions committee will be doing, I've heard that the RC score cutoff of 18 was a mistake made by admissions while reviewing applications last year. I also heard that they may bring the cutoff back up to 19 to be on par with previous years. Remember that although there are many applicants applying with Nov 2016 DAT scores (which has weaker scores, if I understand it), there are just as many students applying for a second/third time with older DAT scores. I'm not sure many committees will change the cutoff for one set of students if the other three DAT test scores are all well within normal range. SnowWhite
There was no reasoning behind it, simply a mistake by someone on the admissions committee. It should have been

So would this mean that they won't even read the ABS/PS of applicants with an RC score of 18 this year?

If the cutoff is indeed 19 RC, then they wouldn't read the ABS/PS of people with 18 RC.
tuscanleather
Thanks for the insight everyone! Does anyone know if we called UWO in the near future to ask what the cut-off was if they would tell us, or do we have to wait until interview invites are sent? Doesn't hurt to try but I think they'll tell you to call after interview invites are out.
kingfletch
They have, at least in the past, reflected it in the interview invite itself.

DentHope2021
When do they send interview invites usually? If the past two years are any indication (as well as the stated message on their website), they should be out on March 1st (one month before interview weekend).
