Transfer UWO/Toronto

Current student In midwest USA. Has anyone in the past applied to UWO and/or Toronto for transfer into second year? Or personally know/met ppl that have successfully entered?

In the last 2-3 years have either programs ended up with open seats in each year?

The chances of transferring dental schools are extremely low. Schools like UWO and U of T rarely have any spots open up in their second year. On top of the lack of availability, the course you take in one school will likely not transfer and in many cases, you'd need to do D1 over again. This is all after the deans at both schools sanction the transfer. You'd need a decent reason - saying it's closer to home or the tuition is cheaper most likely won't cut it at all.

It happened a few times while I was in school, so it's possible, but a lot of luck has to be on your side for it to happen.

yeah it is tough and random as others have said - you can of course explore it though.

I tried to transfer from one of the accredited Irish Dental Schools but unfortunately, I didn't get it. I had solid grades, publication and a reference letter from my dental school. Thats not to say that it isn't possible but it is very unlikely. The curriculum must match though!

As I remembered, back in the days, a spot had to open at year 2 (ie. someone transferred out or dropped out) to accept a transfer student.  That being said, my year had 2 transfers in from the US in year 2.  (reason spots opened up - 2 students from my year delayed a year due to medical reason)

I've been waiting for emails from them about whether seats are available or not - and it's been silent for 3 weeks. I guess no news, is good news?

Assuming they are now in the selection process (hopefully...)
