You can do it. You can do it.

Luongo next start?

Luongo starts next for sure.

If this is how it had to go, then it worked out.

Gives Luongo a chance to warm up vs. the Germans, (we better beat the Germans) and then we go at Russia. We were likely going to face them whether it was in the quarters or the finals.

U.S.A. did not deserve to win that game, but they played well enough to let Miller steal it for them.

Also, and I've felt this since day 1, Chris Pronger should not be on this team. His talent is outdated to the days when the NHL was based on hooks and holds. He a dirty hockey player, who will take penalties, and get out of position trying to rub people out and throwing elbows, and unfortunately doesn't have the speed or agility to get back in the play.

That was just a shocker to me. I really honestly thought Canada was going to be able to make up for their mistakes, but it was just one to many. I was completely blown away on how Brodeur played. Seriously? Why? He is an awsome goalie, but superstars are suppose to step up at times when everything is on the line such as our pride, our chance at the quaterfinals etc. Canada has a much stronger team than USA, how did we fail? Too many penalities, Ryan Miller just took it away from Canada. As to pronger, I still believe hes a good player. We cant just blame this on Pronger. I agree he had somethign to do with it, but lack of discipline cost us the game. I cant help it think that Canada took the game lightly. I don't think the expected USA to give them any trouble.

How could Canada take this game too lightly? After barely beating the Swiss (and losing 4 years ago to the Swiss), I seriously doubt they thought, "oh it's the Americans. They suck, we will win easily."

Face it. This Canadian team sucks. Individually they may all have talent, but as with all team sports the sum of all parts does not equal team effort. Sorry, but this team doesn't have the chemistry. They all have individual egos to feed. That's what you get when you put rich boys together like that. I'm so glad USA won. You can blame Brodeur, or the refs or whatever but the bottom line is the USA was the better TEAM tonight. All the shot blocking by USA, the Kesler goal at the end, that is what won the game for USA.

I'm disgusted with Canadian hockey and all the individual egos that go along with it. I hope they bow out next game. Then I get to laugh at all the suckers who paid all the money for the gold medal game.

Brian, as a citizen of both countries, and an avid hockey follower, I can say the Canadians def. have a better team. What happened tonight? Brodeur sucks... bad choice to put him in net. Secondly, Canada was way to reckless and unnecessarily aggresive. We had too many penalties and power plays.

Like usual, Joe Thorton and Patrick Marleau are choking.. these guys are world class chokers. Play Luongo next game... God damn Brodeur only faced 22 shots and let 4 in...ugh. But maybe team Canada can turn it around - maybe this loss destroyed their oversized ego.. maybe now they will start taking teams more seriously

I certainly don't blame this game on Pronger, I just keep getting reminded every time I see him, that I don't like his game, and I don't think he matches the theme with which the team was selected.

Maybe they felt he brought a rough edge to the team and some experience but I can think of several other d-men I would have rather had.

The reason I bring it up now is because I felt so dejected.

Then I watched Virtue and Moir do their compulsory dance, and I'm feeling good again. During my 13 years of competitive hockey, I would have never guessed ice dancing would be keeping my spirits up lol.

As for some of the other comments.... quite fickle fans we have here.

We out shot the Americans 45-23. Canada played a good game. They had some untimely penalties however, and less than stellar goaltending.

The individual egos comment blows. This seemed to be the first legitimate attempt to pick a team with some chemistry. Between the San Jose line, the Chicago defense pairing, Getzlaf and Perry getting picked together, Partice Bergeron brought in for his two way place and faceoff ability and the general addition of young talent like Doughty, Stevie Y tried to form a team and not a list of the best statistical players. Ask Mike Green (even as I say that, I wish Mike Green was on this team lol). Moo for all your fantastic advice regarding family medicine, your hockey commentary matches that of an internet troll doing the best you can to piss off and mock your fellow Canadians.

Marleau, Heatley and Thornton have been solid as far as I'm concerned. Definitely not choking by any means. Thornton and Marleau have had their troubles in important games in the past, but it would be unfair to generalize that to them right now.

Canada was stoned by a great goal tending performance that wasn't matched by their own goalie, and a couple bad penalties. The penalty that lead to the goal in the 3rd period was actually a half decent penalty. Perry breaking that stick in half prevented a solid scoring chance. Perhaps, that player shouldn't have been left open in the first place though.

Germany coming up.... hopefully with Luongo in net. Regroup and go forward. This is our game.

never been a big fan of brodeur. don't really like his stand up style compared to the more conventional butterfly goalies of today. seems like with stand up he gives away a lot of net on the bottom, and with a butterfly goalie like lui, he might have had a better positioning on some of those deflections that went in.

as a team, i think we played pretty decently. way outshot the americans and most of the play was in their zone.

let's face it, brodeur didn't play that well, and as a team we gave away WAY too many penalties especially in the third period to be able to come back.

i really want to see luongo next game

That song doesn't help Canada's stereotype of being socialistic. Anyway that is politics so let us not discuss that.

^^ 4.0 cGPA post.

My post was sarcasm btw, eff wayne state and eff the teabaggers!

I think coke should play the this is our game more often and on non-Olympics channels.

Did you guys hear, Brodeur got hit by a car today.

But don't worry, it just passed through his legs...

Haha hilarious, Brodeur is possibly the best goalie of all time and has an unmatched resume.

But he didn't bring it last night, made some silly move for such a veteran, and now on the basis of a yahoo sports claim, everyone is reporting Luongo is getting the start in Germany.

I don't think Babcock has a choice. Right now he represents Canada, and I think the consensus is Luongo.

lol. Nice to see pm101ers felt the same way about the game last night as I did.

The Women will definitely redeem us.

Anyone know when the Ice Dance finals are? Canadians are now in first place.

I believe the free skate (final event) is tonight. I really hope Moir/Virtue win. Their original dance was excellent.

Not even close. He's not in the same class as Hasek and the only thing he's got on Roy is longevity.

You'll note I said possibly, and many knowledgeable hockey folk would consider him a candidate if not the outright lead.

Damien Cox is a pretty decent hockey writer. I'll agree with you that Roy and Hasek should get similar consideration, but to say Brodeur is not even close is a poor overstatement of opinion.
