Radiology job market in Canada

large cities like Vancouver and Toronto - not good - new grads have hard time finding jobs unless mammo or IR and have to go to periphery 1-2 hours away

 

medium sized cities like Hamilton, London, Calgary - good

 

small towns - very good

No, but those that were considering retirement may have postponed it since their retirement savings decreased significantly over the past couple of years.

This is true. Across the board many older physicians who are able to are thinking about practicing longer than they originally would have. typically about 5 years longer or so. Alot of people took hard hits to their retirement funds, and want to recoup some losses before retiring. Some groups are also not hiring in order to ensure volume for the senior people for this very purpose.

Wouldn't think that would affect us that much as the residency is also five years (?) Even if you are in residency now by the end of things the market should still clear.
