Hey all!

LOI does more than just create a bias. There is a story of a girl who had very very subpar stats and sent an LOI like every month and really showed enthusiasm, and got IN because of her sincere interest.

So, don't take it lightly. And FYI, you should be sending them to schools that you have much higher stats for, that will show them that u are not going to hog a seat until u get into ur top canadian choice come may 15 or a better US school.

Sorry if I sound like a complete idiot, but what exactly are letters of interests? Are they letters written by the applicant on letterhead stationery that expresses the reasons of interest of the applicant to the school? Why isn't this written in the application process on school's websites? I know that this is a completely extra step, but do you just mail it to the medical schools admissions office typically after an interview? Any clarification would be appreciated!

You almost have it. If you are put on hold, or on a waitlist, then you would write a letter saying that you improved x,y,z. And that after interviewing at some schools u substantially feel that this school is a great fit for you because of x y z.

There is greater significance if you are on some time of waitlist, either ranked or unranked (what does this mean? I see this on SDN and I know LOIs and waitlists have some significance?)

Only case, although I am definitely an idiot and decided to not apply to cclcm.

if it helps my stats are:

34R, 3.87/3.84 cgpa and scigpa respectively

notable ecs:

very short (10 day) volunteer abroad + some published abstracts and abstracts at big conferences (so research). Good LORs overall, but not all were outstanding.

Yeah I just did, I went for the earliest. Rolling admissions so the earlier the better. I also wanted to beat midterm season and *fingers crossed* get an acceptance before December exams so i can slack off a lil :P

Schnauzr, did you apply to CCLCM? I want to apply now but I think it might be too late!
