  3. Copying the McGill post, just wanted to start a thread for those of us who have been waitlisted to keep up with any updates and movement at UWO. Feel free to share your stats, your place on the waitlist (hwl, mwl, lwl) and whether you plan on accepting!
  4. Hi everyone! I posted on the "What are my chances.." thread but had not gotten any input or advice for my stats. I just wanted to post again and see if anyone had any opinions on whether I should re-write the DAT this November, I'm just having a difficult time figuring out what to do especially since a lot of folks have higher stats (scrolled through the DATCrusher FB group and was definitely in awe of all the scores posted). Last cycle (2020-2021) I got an interview for UWO and got wait-listed (I don't think the list will reach me). I also just finished up my 2 yr course-based masters in July. Here are my stats: DAT: 21 AA, 20 RC, 21 PAT GPA: ~87-88 for best 2 years, and 3.9 for undergrad + masters EC: many school clubs, non-profit volunteering, research, but minimal shadowing I was wondering if with these stats I'd have a chance at UofT or UWO? Any help would be appreciated! I am very desperate for a second opinion
  5. I am a second year, and I wanted to take orgo 2213a and 2223b during the summer but I have heard from a few people that some canadian med schools don't consider student that have completed orgo during the summer semester. Orgo wouldn't be apart of my GPA since most med schools take top 2 years, but I just wanted to make sure.
  6. Hi, I stumbled upon a thread that said UWO doesn't really look at the scores except for RC? Is this true and can anyone confirm?
  7. Okay results are out. Thought I should start this post. Good luck everyone! Result: GPA: DAT: ABS: Interview:
  8. Hi guys! I'm a recent graduate from the University of Guelph, and I am planning on taking the cDAT this upcoming November. I unfortunately screwed myself over and didn't take organic chemistry in my undergrad because I didn't want it messing up my GPA but I know UWO requires it. I wanted to take it this upcoming fall but UofG doesn't offer it until the winter semester. The UWO admissions page says "Prerequisite courses can be taken at any time but must be completed by April 30 of the year of entry". If I were to take it at UofG in the winter semester, I would technically be done the course as the semester ends on April 26th, however as they release the marks in the following week, I may not have my orgo mark until May 3rd. I know this is super confusing I was wondering whether anyone has experience with applying prior to having all their pre-reqs done? If it's not possible I can simply transfer the credit to take it at UWO instead, but having taken general chemistry courses at Guelph, I feel that I would be at a disadvantage taking it elsewhere. I appreciate any insight whatsoever!
  9. I am looking to choose a program between these offers. My end goal is med school, but i want a university where it’ll be easy to achieve that goal and gpa without becoming depressed and drained from studying 24/7. I would also like a good atmosphere and one that is welcoming to diverse students as i am a POC. Which program is best suited for me?
  10. I am I med sci and I don't know if I should take physics 1028 (with Poepping) or physics 1301 (with Wong). So, could someone help me? It would be greatly appreciated. BTW I haven't taken grade 12 physics.
  11. Hi, I was wondering how much did the western wait-list move last year? Any response is appreciated.
  12. Hello!! I’m applying for OT in fall. I am currently a psychology student, my cgpa is around 3.5 and my sgpa for this year is around 3.7. I’m currently taking some summer courses to boost my sgpa. I have some volunteering and research experience as well. Last year I had a very bad year and failed 2 courses, I also WDN a course due to my mental state. This year I have retaken those courses and I got back into honours, but due to the coronavirus situation I WDN a course and now I realize this may have been a bad choice and that it will look bad on my application next year. Does anyone have experience of getting into OT with 2+ WDN on their transcript? And not to forget the 2 failed courses. I would appreciate any answers!! Thank you
  13. Hey guys, I’m a year away from applying but I was wondering what I should do. Should I apply through the access pathway or should I apply through the swomen pathway. Is there an advantage to applying as an access student over swomen since they both have the same minimum requirements? I know I’d be able to apply as an access student because I went through three years of cancer treatment during undergrad and I went to high school in Elgin county so that qualifies for swomen status. I’d love any input! Thanks
  14. Hi everyone! I'm thinking of pursuing a Master's degree (1 year) and applying to Schulich dentistry after it. I was wondering whether any bonuses are given to those with a graduate degree (course-based)? Thank you!
  15. I am determined to attend medical school in Canada. Would love any advice regarding the few options I have Currently studying for the MCAT and going into the fourth year of my honours Science undergrad- 1st year GPA 3.21 (technically 4.5 course load, including my initial grade and my improved grade for my 1 repeated course) 2nd year GPA 3.44 3rd year GPA 3.63 I'm assuming these are my options (based on years of obsessive research on forums lmao): 1) Do a 5th year. Attain 3.8+ in year 4 & 5. Apply to Western in my 5th year. If unsuccessful, complete a master's program. Apply again to Western and Queen's (perhaps Ottawa?) Any other schools I would have a chance at? 2) Do a second undergraduate degree and open up doors to other schools. Could do this after completing my degree in four years or after doing the additional 5th year. I am studying hard for the MCAT and would say I have unique ECs. I appreciate any honest insight (optimistic/pessimistic). Thank you in advance!
  16. Hey guys! I have created a temporary group for the incoming OT class at western, there will be an official one that goes up closer to school but for now I thought it would be a good resource for everyone to connect https://www.facebook.com/groups/431202110797712/
  17. Hey guys! I recently got into both mac health sci and western med sci with scholars electives. Obviously my end goal is med school and I know most people say mac is the safer bet but I just wanted to see if anyone had any more advice for choosing between the two programs. I like both the programs and I'm mostly considering western because I liked the campus, the atmosphere, and the guaranteed research opportunity. However mac health sci I've heard also has an amazing and supportive community. Idk I think I'm leaning towards mac, but ya lemme know your opinions!!
  18. Hi Everyone, This question is mainly for physio students currently studying at Western. How are you finding the program in regards to teaching techniques and classroom environment? Do you feel like you have a wide variety of placement opportunities in a wide range of settings? I have heard that Western helps students placed outside of London by giving them $600 per placement. Is this true? Are there other opportunities for scholarships etc. I have seen quite a bit on the website but would like to hear others personal experiences as well. Also, how is the living situation in London? Is there a way to find other PT students to rent with, hopefully closer to campus? What about extra-curricular experiences? Also, I have heard that some PT programs are on a pass/fail basis, giving greater emphasis on collaboration and team-work. Would you describe Western's program to be like that? Thank you all. I am looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
