are there any US schools that do the same sort of best or last 2 years policies like we have here in canada in a number of places?

Hard to imagine a 43 on the MCAT won't peak someones interest but I am still learning about the US routes :)

I can't quite speak for all US schools, but the general consensus is that US schools do not follow strict formulas in assessing candidates. They use a "holistic" approach. It gives them a little leeway to consider unconventional candidates, but it does make the process seem more subjective.

I strongly re-emphasize the SMP! You kill that, and you're going to medical school somewhere -- most likely the SMP school itself...

Here's a thorough list of the schools that offer the SMP degree.

However, many only take US PRs or residents. The two that would be at the top of my head that accept internationals are

Rosalind Franklin SMP

and Boston University

A word to the wise about Boston University. It is known as a massive grade deflation school. It may be seen as the U of T of the USA.

  • 3 weeks later...

your canadian, and theres tons of applicants

you are the bottom of the barrel....no one one wants you. Unless your leaps and bounds above the american students, your always at a disadvantage.

GPA is to low for MD (you will get stuck at interviews..ive seen many people get interviews and cannot get acceptance year after year

)

DO will be acceptance

id do Canada if theres a shot 4 you

DO to get it over with

then smp

then another undergrad/reapply again

all the best dude

just my 2 cents

If you understood this you automatically get 15 VR.

Did you apply to top tier schools? You should. They assess you much more holistically then the lower tier schools. Usually, they actually have people go through all applications by hand (and not use a computer to make cutoffs). Then again, I am making a huge generalization but I do know you have a shot (they also LOVE upward trends).
